PSA EXECUTIVE
There are approx 2,500 Postgrduates in UL with one sabbatical officer, the PSA President. Therefore to ensure that you have an enjoyable student experience, the PSA depends on the active involvement of YOU as postgraduate students.
The PSA is governed by the Executive (Exec) which is chaired by the President. The Exec is comprised of the Vice-President, the Treasurer, the Mary Immaculate Representative, the Publicity Officer and the Events officer.
The Vice-President is the second officer of the PSA.
The Treasurer aids the President with the accounts and financial controlling.
The PSA also represents the postgraduates of Mary Immaculate College in Limerick city centre.
The Publicity officer helps to maintain the website, and Twitter page. It is their job to publicise PSA events through any medium in coordination with the Events Officer.
The Events Officer runs PSA events in coordination with the President.
I hope to rearrange the EXEC after the AGM on October first to allow for a PhD Rep, a Resea rch Rep (masters) and a Taught Rep (masters). Other officers that could be added include a Mature-Students Rep, a Student-Parents Rep and an International-Student Rep. If you are interested in one of these positions and would like to see them appear on the PSA exec contact the President at psapresident@ul.ie
PSA Working Groups
It is proposed that a number of Working groups be established. To join a working group contact the PSA President at psapresident@ul.ie or dan.comerford@ul.ie
Working groups.
PSA Class Reps Working Group –
This group will be made up from existing class reps and will liaise with the PSA Research Students Working Groupto make sure that information passes to all postgrads and that issues will be identified quickly and dealt with accordingly. IF you are a Class Rep then PLEASE SIGN UP!
PSA Student Parents Working Group –
Inclusion, support and understanding. Are you a student who is also a parent? Do you feel included in the postgrad community? Do you feel that the PSA is able to respond to your specific needs? Do you feel like anyone is listening?
PSA Events Working Group -
The PSA runs a number of events throughout the year and while the size and scope of the events varies they will all need someone to buy the wine, pop the wine, drink the wine, recycle the bottles etc… if you are interested
PSA Research Students Working Group –
The PSA is made up of over 2,500 members – all of which are postgrads but some are taught and some are research and they can encounter different issues and problems. For this group I want at PhD and Masters Students who are from a research background and who are willing to act as a class rep for research students.
Activism
As Postgrads in the University of Limerick, you may feel it is your duty to change something in the PSA, the University, the Region, the Country or the World.
If political activism is your thing and you are hell-bent on making the world a better place, contact the president. If the Exec sees your crusade as a PSA crusade then it could become policy.
