Public Meeting for ALL Teachers
posted 01st Feb < back to all eventsInterested in teaching?
Want a lower salary?
If your answer to the first question is ‘yes’ and the second question ‘no’, voice your strong opposition to the worsening of salaries and pensions for new teachers
Attend the public meeting organised by TUI, ASTI and INTO in The Jean Monet Theatre,
University of Limerick, at 8pm on the 2nd of February 2011.
In an unprecedented attack on those not yet working in the teaching profession, the Government has stated its intention to introduce a 16% salary reduction for all new entrants and a stripped down pension scheme which would see teachers paying more than they ultimately draw down in payments. If introduced, these measures would be inflicted on every new teacher. The three teacher unions – ASTI, INTO and TUI – have vowed to campaign vigorously against this vicious attack on employment terms and conditions, but we need the support of today’s students – tomorrow’s teachers.
All students who intend developing a career as a teacher (or in any other public service employment) are strongly advised to attend what promises to be an eye-opening and crucial public meeting. The more support the campaign generates, the stronger the likelihood of forcing a concession on this flawed policy.
Protect your future, attend this vital meeting. It could be the most important you ever attend.
