AGM Results
posted 05th Oct < back to all newsAGM a great sucess
The PSA AGM took place last Thursday the 1st of October in the PSA Common Room. A quorum of thirty full members were needed to make the changes proposed and despite a shaky start well over 40 people attended.
Thanks to the high turnout the two proposed amendments to the constitution carried so that now the role of Deputy-President is widened to include Deputy-President & Treasurer and the new role of Community Inclusion Officer has been created. The second amendment will allow the AGM to be help any college day up until the end of October which means that the executive can be formed earlier if desired by future Presidents.
The results of the elections are as follows:
Executive
Deputy-President and Treasurer – Jennifer Dempsey
Mary I Rep – Shane O’Sullivan
Events Officer – Finnian McCarthy
Publicity Officer – Martha Gorman
Community Inclusion Officer – Caroline Murphy
Faculty Officers
AHSS (Arts Humanities and Social Sciences)– Helen Basini
Business (KBS) – Andrew Kennelly
EHS (Education and Health Sciences) – Tony Sheridan
Science and Engineering – STILL TO BE FILLED –
If you are a student of S&E and are interested please forward your details with S&E Faculty Officer in the title of the email to psapresident@ul.ie
The Working Groups have been formed and membership is still open. If you are interested then please email me, a list of the different working groups (including some that have yet to be formed) will be available on this site in the next few days.
During the discussion it was decided that the Student-teacher working group would begin collecting data on student-teaching in UL and a report is envisaged. The possibility of reintegration with ULSU has also been parked for the foreseeable future with the majority of PSA members preferring an independent PSA. It was agreed however to continue with a close working relationship with the other representative body in UL and build up a relationship with Trinity GSU - the only other postgraduate representative body in Ireland.
Thanks again to everyone who came along and if you wish to discuss this further with me then please call into my office or email me.
Thanks,
Michael
