Mary I Rep
My name is Dearbhla McCarthy and I am a second year PhD student in English Language and Literature at Mary Immaculate College, and the MISU Postgraduate Officer for the academic year 2010 – 2011.
As postgraduate officer, my primary duty is to represent all members of the postgraduate student community, address any concerns which they may have in relation to academic life and continue to provide information and support. There are several initiatives in place already, including the MIC Thesis Writing Support Program and the Postgraduate Lunchtime Presentations, which are open to all who are engaged in research.
There are also important links to be maintained with the undergraduate community. All of us are members of the student body, whether we are approaching the end of our studies or just beginning, and there are a number of clubs and societies open to all students – a great way to get to know people and to stay in touch with life outside of academia. As well as the student body of MIC, it is my intention to work with the SU officers of UL and LIT in order to establish and maintain connections, both academically and socially, between all students in the Limerick area. If you have any questions, suggestions, etc. please contact me at dearbhla.mccarthy@mic.ul.ie
Regards,
Dearbhla McCarthy
