President
Hi Everyone!
My name is Sarah Jane and I am this years Postgrad Students' Association President.
Firstly I'll tell you a bit about myself. I'm from Mayo and have been studying in Limerick for the past five years. I did my undergrad in Politics and Public Administration. This year I have just completed my MA in European Integration.
This year my main aim is to generate greater awareness of the PSA and its' role. I believe the PSA serves a valuable purpose for postgrads, through representation, services; such as welfare and the Common Room, and as a place to seek advice on academic or procedural issues.
I hope to see the facilities offered by the PSA utilised more fully by taught and research postgrads alike. I will host Q&A sessions with faculty staff for research students, Coffee mornings, Careers Workshops, and BYOB events in the Common Room.
I also intend to focus on issues which are more prevalent in student life today, such as financial support, scholarships, bursaries, and external funding opportunities.
Along with this, I believe that social events should also be inexpensive. I intend to create cheap and cheerful events for postgrads at times when our workload is less heavy.
My office is located in the PSA Common Room. Please feel free to come to me with any ideas, queries or suggestions.
I will also be holding the first PSA AGM of the academic year 11/12 on week 2. I would encourage everyone to get involved. It is a great experience where you get to meet so many people. The AGM is also a good way to get up to speed on postgraduate issues, even if you do not wish to become actively involved.
I hope to see you all over the course of the year. The very best of luck with all your studies! I hope you enjoy your time in UL!
Best Wishes,
Sarah Jane
